MotoGP 2011: Marco Simoncelli, The Last Farewell. The Funeral Takes Place Today.

Today is the day of the last farewell to Marco Simoncelli: the funeral will take place in the church of Coriano at 3pm. Marco came back home from Sepang, Malaysia, last trip of a championship that has left no way out for the future of our motorcycling.

Yesterday the funeral chamber  was set up in the middle of the Teatro Comunale in Coriano and immediately thousands of fans, friends and professionals began to queue up to give to SuperSic their last hug .

Today, in the church there will be motorbikes, too. Paolo, Marco’s father wanted them and the priest agreed. Those motorbikes were Marco’s passion, those were his reason for everything, everything turned around bikes and everything was being built around them. Thanks to those motorbikes Marco was becoming the most trusted in the role of new Valentino Rossi.

And it will be Valentino Rossi who will ride Marco’s #58 Honda , leading it along the funeral procession. Yesterday on twitter the Tavullia champion  wrote: ”for those who can’t attend to the funeral, do not worry: I’ll say goodbye Sic for all of you.”

Rossi and Simoncelli were true friends, the kind of friends who will fight on the field like lions, because for the rest they love each other, they care too much.  On the plane back from Sepang, the one with Marco’s body, Valentino was there, with Paolo Simoncelli and Kate, Marco’s girlfriend.

Even Vasco Rossi wanted to remember the disappeared champion. In a post titled “Viva Marco Simoncelli,” the Blasco wrote ”Marco Simoncelli was a nice guy and full of enthusiasm: for a damn disgrace he lost his life. Riding motorbike was his passion and he had not given up till the end. Honor to him who will always live in our hearts and condolences to his family ”

Today at the funeral, “Siamo solo noi” will be played, a Vasco masterpiece, a SuperSic’s favourite.
