MotoGP 2011: Stoner Sets Pace At Phillip Island In FP1

Phillip Island is like a postcard: a beautiful  island inhabited by just seven thousand people located 140 km south from Melbourne, renowned not only for the circuit but also for the wonderful beaches and the lack of industries. On the island, in fact, everything is breeding and cultivation, thus making the whole surface looks like a huge green lawn.

In this breathless context, Casey Stoner will play the first match point of the MotoGP World Championship : if he is able to gain 10 or more points between his score and Lorenzo’s one, the game will be over. Yesterday, during Free Practice, the Australian fell, making his team shiver.

Then he raised and obtained the first time. Lorenzo was not outdone, he conquered the  second time on his Yamaha. At the third place Marco Simoncelli with his Honda Gresini, followed by Colin Edwards, who probably felt the strong pressure caused by the announcement of Dovizioso to the Yamaha Tech 3 Monster Team.

Fifth is Ben Spies, who managed to put the third Yamaha into the top five. Behind him, oddly enough, the two Repsol Honda, Dovizioso and Pedrosa. Rossi is the thirteenth, but this year talking about the defeat of the Ducati  is not a news anymore.
