{"id":237137,"date":"2014-09-07T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-09-07T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/motogp-alex-marquez-to-join-marc-vds-moto2-team\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T02:09:41","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T00:09:41","slug":"motogp-alex-marquez-to-join-marc-vds-moto2-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/blog\/motogp-alex-marquez-to-join-marc-vds-moto2-team\/","title":{"rendered":"MotoGP: \u00c1lex M\u00e1rquez to join Marc VDS Moto2 team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/alex-marquez-motogp-2014-red-bull-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11456\" src=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/alex-marquez-motogp-2014-red-bull-3.jpg\" alt=\"alex-marquez-motogp-2014-red-bull\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>By Sophie Riga<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slowly but surely, all of the three <strong>MotoGP<\/strong> fields are sorted.\u00a0Gradually every rider confirms, if he&#8217;s staying with his team or in which different team he&#8217;s changing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last one to make his change public was current Moto3 rider <strong>\u00c1lex M\u00e1rquez<\/strong>.\u00a0The younger brother of <strong>MotoGP<\/strong> world champion <strong>Marc M\u00e1rquez<\/strong> is going to ride for the <strong>Marc VDS<\/strong> racing team in the Moto2 class.\u00a0He&#8217;ll take over the place from <strong>Mika Kallio<\/strong>.\u00a0The finn, with his 32 years, is one of the oldest riders in the field and has already raced in <strong>MotoGP.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But despite his good results, being second in the overall standings, <strong>Marc VDS<\/strong> decided to give a young, also obviously talented rider the chance to ride Moto2.<br \/>\nThe choice fell on <strong>\u00c1lex M\u00e1rquez<\/strong>, whose size is way more fitted for a Moto2 bike, instead of a much smaller<strong> Moto3 bike<\/strong>, anyway.\u00a0But considering Kallio&#8217;s previous results, he&#8217;s not going to be without a bike in the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">M\u00e1rquez will team up with the remaining <strong>Esteve \u201eTito\u201c Rabat,<\/strong> who is leading the <strong>Moto2<\/strong> world championship until now.\u00a0It is assumed that he&#8217;s going to fight for the next year&#8217;s championship with his future teammate, as he does now with his current teammate <strong>Kallio.<\/strong>\u00a0Racing alongside Rabat is a promising benefit for <strong>M\u00e1rquez,<\/strong> since he&#8217;ll be able to learn much of such an experienced rider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The contract between the <strong>Marc VDS<\/strong> racing team and <strong>M\u00e1rquez<\/strong> runs for two years, covering the seasons of 2015 and 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sophie Riga Slowly but surely, all of the three MotoGP fields are sorted.\u00a0Gradually every rider confirms, if he&#8217;s staying with his team or in which different team he&#8217;s changing.
