The <strong>German<\/strong> took part in a test at the team&#8217;s <strong>Fiorano<\/strong> test track in Italy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">The 4 time world champion drove <strong>Ferrari&#8217;s<\/strong> 2012 car, the same type raced by <strong>Vettel&#8217;s<\/strong> title rival <strong>Fernando Alonso<\/strong> that year. Sebastian will replace Fernando after leaving the Red Bull family. He had been a part of their young driver programme since 1998.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">Vettel, wearing a white helmet with the text, &#8216;<strong>My first day at Ferrari<\/strong>,&#8217; drove the Ferrari for a test that will most likely have no impact on the team&#8217;s preparation for next year&#8217;s championship. It is highly likely that the test was organised to get <strong>Sebastian&#8217;s<\/strong> race seat fitted and to get him acclimatized with the <strong>Ferrari<\/strong> crew. Sebastian had wished to drive for the team in their 2014 car at the Abu Dhabi post-season test on Monday and Tuesday, but his former team Red Bull disallowed it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;It is a shame, especially because initially I was allowed and then I wasn&#8217;t. It is what it is,&#8221; said Vettel regarding <strong>Red Bull<\/strong>&#8216;s decision, &#8220;I don&#8217;t know [why it happened]. All of a sudden something changed, I think as far as I understand, I don&#8217;t know. The technical people were panicking a little bit, afraid I might take some secrets&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">Vettel was present in the <strong>Ferrari<\/strong> garage for the two day test as his 2015 team-mate and good friend <strong>Kimi Raikkonen<\/strong> drove the car.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;It was nice that he joined us in the garage for the first day of testing, although I have to say that didn&#8217;t surprise me, because I know what he&#8217;s like and his approach to work,&#8221; <strong>Raikkonen<\/strong> said in a team statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;I think we can enjoy ourselves on track together, both of us fighting to be ahead of the other, while also working as a team to reach the common target of progressing in order to get the <strong>Scuderia<\/strong> back to the level it should be at.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sebastian Vettel has driven a Ferrari Formula One car for the first time since signing for the team for next year&#8217;s 2015 Formula One world championship.
