His teammate <strong>Valentino Rossi<\/strong> started from fifth place behind Tech3 rider Pol Espargar\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lorenzo<\/strong> started usually well and was leading the pack right away.<br \/>\nHis pursuer M\u00e1rquez suffered from his injured finger on the left hand, so the current world champ wasn&#8217;t up to 100 per cent. Still the spaniard was able to follow <strong>Lorenzo<\/strong>, whose lead increased with every turn.<br \/>\nAfter a few laps of trying to close up to <strong>Lorenzo<\/strong>, M\u00e1rquez settled for securing the second place.<\/p>\n<p>Behind the two spaniards, <strong>Rossi<\/strong> tried to repeat the action from Argentina two weeks ago and worry M\u00e1rquez with closing up on him lap by lap.<br \/>\nBut just like M\u00e1rquez, after a couple of laps the italian decided to stick with the podium finish and secure important championship points.<br \/>\nFor Rossi it&#8217;s the 200<sup>th<\/sup> podium position in his entire career.<\/p>\n<p>CWM LCR rider Cal Crutchlow followed the nine-time world champion in fourth place.<br \/>\nThe briton started into the race from sixth place and after a fight with Suzuki pilot Aleix Espargar\u00f3 and his younger brother Pol Espargar\u00f3 could even save a fourth slot.<br \/>\nAfter the Podium Position in Argentina, Crutchlow continues to collect championship points and seems to enjoy his new bike.<br \/>\nPol Espargar\u00f3 secured his by-now best race position at Jerez in fifth place.<\/p>\n<p>The only Ducati rider in the Top Ten this weekend was Andrea Iannone. After starting from the first row, the italian had a bad start and fell back to 11<sup>th<\/sup> place. Through the race, Iannone kept fighting and could finally take home a sixth place. He was followed by Aleix Espargar\u00f3 in seventh place. It&#8217;s the third Top Ten result for the spaniard since his arrive in the all-new Ecstar Suzuki Team.<\/p>\n<p>Championship second Andrea Dovizioso suffered from a self-inflicted mistake and fell back from eighth to twenty-second place.<br \/>\nOf course the Ducati rider was able to close up on the front and ended the race in ninth place.<br \/>\nWith <strong>Rossi<\/strong> in third place, the gap between him and Dovizioso opened up to 15 points.<br \/>\nPramac rider Yonny Hern\u00e1ndez completes the Top Ten.<\/p>\n<p>Next to Dani Pedrosa&#8217;s replacement Hiroshi Aoyama, also Forward Athin\u00e1 pilot Loris Baz and AB Motoracing rider Karel Abraham had to retire earlier from the race.<br \/>\nFortunately all three riders remained unhurt.<\/p>\n<p>The next round of the <strong>MotoGP championship<\/strong> takes place at Le Mans, France at May, 15<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the Movistar Yamaha Team the weekend at Jerez de la Frontera couldn&#8217;t end any better.
