{"id":237382,"date":"2015-06-28T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-28T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/valentino-rossi-at-2015-goodwood-festival-of-speed-debut\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T02:30:26","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T00:30:26","slug":"valentino-rossi-at-2015-goodwood-festival-of-speed-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/blog\/valentino-rossi-at-2015-goodwood-festival-of-speed-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"Valentino Rossi at 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed Debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/yfr_editorial_use_pictures_152-18.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-12927\" src=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/yfr_editorial_use_pictures_152-18.jpeg\" alt=\"Valentino_rossi_goodwood\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Valentino Rossi<\/strong> shone as a special guest at the 23rd edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. celebrated its 60th anniversary.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">After a stunning race at the TT Assen Circuit yesterday, where Valentino Rossi won his third race this season, the 111th in his career, starting from pole position, yesterday\u00a0the\u00a0<b>Movistar Yamaha MotoGP <\/b>rider\u00a0made his first ever appearance at the prestigious <b>Goodwood Festival of Speed<\/b>, which carried a theme of nostalgia and pride in the growing interest in motorsport, as <b>Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.<\/b> took the occasion to celebrate its 60<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The nine-time World Champion was specially invited by <b>Lord March <\/b>to make his debut at this famous event as a guest star. <b>Rossi <\/b>traveled straight from the Dutch GP to the UK to be able to attend the event, where he was accompanied by Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd Executive Vice President, <b>Takaaki Kimura<\/b>, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V President, <b>Kazuhiro Kuwata<\/b>, YMC Motorsports Division&#8217;s General Manager, <b>Kouichi Tsuji<\/b>\u00a0and Yamaha Motor Racing Managing Director, <b>Lin Jarvis<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">They had the pleasure of joining a star studded guest list including numerous famous sportsmen, celebrities and VIPs, for a gala dinner and ball on the Saturday evening at <b>Lord March<\/b>\u2018s grand estate, before the action started the morning after.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">Sunday kicked off with <b>Rossi<\/b>, <b>Lord March<\/b>, <b>Kimura-san<\/b>, <b>Kuwata-san<\/b>, <b>Tsuji-san<\/b> and <b>Jarvis<\/b> revealing the Doctor\u2018s Yamaha YZR-M1, equipped with a special livery, in Yamaha\u2018s display area in the F1 Paddock. The yellow and retro styled bike commemorates <b>Yamaha Motor\u2018s 60<\/b><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><b> anniversary<\/b> and the ceremony was completed by motorsport legends <b>Kenny Roberts<\/b>,\u00a0<b>Giacomo Agostini<\/b> and <b>Phil Read\u00a0<\/b>taking part in this celebration of Yamaha\u2018s supreme racing heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Rossi<\/b>\u2018s yellow bike was in good company at the Yamaha exhibition; other iconic show bikes on display were <b>Phil Read\u2018s 1965 RD56<\/b>, <b>Giacomo Agostini\u2018s 1975 YZR500 OW23<\/b>\u00a0and <b>Kenny Roberts\u2018s 1978 YZR750 OW31<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The unveiling of <b>Rossi<\/b>\u2018s bike was followed by the Doctor delighting thousands of spectators when he rode up and down the 1.16-mile Hillclimb in the yellow livery at 11:40 am. The special colour scheme of his <b>YZR-M1<\/b> was similar to the one he and <b>Colin Edwards <\/b>sported ten years ago when they marked Yamaha\u2018s 50<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> anniversary at the Raceway Laguna Seca with a double podium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">After the thrilling ride, involving a 300ft rise, there was more excitement waiting. <b>Rossi<\/b> was interviewed by Goodwood TV on the balcony of <b>Lord March<\/b>\u2018s mansion before joining the host and Formula 1 rider Nico Rosberg for lunch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">The Italian concluded his first <b>Goodwood<\/b> experience by honouring this year\u2018s theme of the <b>Goodwoord <\/b>event, <i>\u2019Flat-Out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge\u2018<\/i>.
