{"id":237435,"date":"2015-09-27T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-27T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/motogp-lorenzo-takes-aragon-as-yamaha-wins-team-world-title\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T02:34:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T00:34:57","slug":"motogp-lorenzo-takes-aragon-as-yamaha-wins-team-world-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/blog\/motogp-lorenzo-takes-aragon-as-yamaha-wins-team-world-title\/","title":{"rendered":"MotoGP: Lorenzo takes Aragon as Yamaha wins Team World Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/rossi_lorenzo-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-13163\" src=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/rossi_lorenzo-6.jpg\" alt=\"rossi_lorenzo_aragon\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Movistar Yamaha<\/strong> MotoGP rider <strong>Jorge Lorenzo<\/strong> secured his sixth win of the season <strong>and 60th Grand Prix win<\/strong> over all classes with a heroic ride at the challenging MotorLand Arag\u00f3n circuit. <strong>Valentino Rossi<\/strong> also fought bravely to secure third in the <strong>Gran Premio Movistar de Arag\u00f3n<\/strong>, giving the team, which shares the same title sponsor, its eighth double podium of the season and the <strong>Team World Championship Title<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Movistar Yamaha MotoGP <\/b>team\u2018s <b>Jorge Lorenzo <\/b>was on another level today at the <b>Gran Premio Movistar de Arag\u00f3n <\/b>and took a stunning victory. <b>Valentino Rossi <\/b>had the Spanish crowd at <strong>MotorLand Arag\u00f3n<\/strong> gasping for air as he entertained them with a sensational battle for second place in which he came just 0.090s short.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Lorenzo <\/b>made a flying start from second on the grid to lead the MotoGP field into turn one with rival Marc Marquez in pursuit. The <b>Yamaha <\/b>rider showed his usual stunning pace on the opening lap, creating an advantage of over half a second as they headed into the second lap. Marquez tried to stay on the heels of <b>Lorenzo<\/b>, but was unable to keep up with his blistering pace and with 22 laps to go he crashed out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By then <b>Lorenzo <\/b>already had a more than 1.7s advantage over the chasing group fighting for second, including Andrea Iannone, Dani Pedrosa and <b>Valentino Rossi<\/b>. As they dueled, <b>Lorenzo <\/b>in no time built up a margin of over three seconds, which he managed beautifully. It was a lonely race for the Spaniard, but his incredible consistency proved unbeatable today. With no rider able to match his pace, <b>Lorenzo <\/b>crossed the finish line with a convincing 2.683 seconds advantage over the rider in second place, and clinched the by himself designed <b>Gran Premio Movistar de Arag\u00f3n <\/b>trophy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Rossi <\/b>defended his lead in the championship with tooth and nail today. He held his sixth grid position off the line going into turn one, and soon moved up the order as he overtook Pol Espargar\u00f2. The Italian, promoted to fourth by Marquez\u2018s crash, was able to get hold of a provisional third place podium spot when he overtook Iannone on lap four.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">His next target was Pedrosa, who he shadowed for most of the race before making his move after 18 laps. What followed was a five-lap battle for second that ran that until the finish line. <b>Rossi <\/b>skillfully passed Pedrosa various times, but was unable to make it stick and ultimately had to settle for the final podium spot, 2.773s off his teammate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Today\u2018s race results keep <b>Lorenzo <\/b>in second in the rankings and see him inch closer to his teammate <b>Rossi<\/b>, who holds the lead in the standings with a 14-point advantage and a total of 263 points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo secured his sixth win of the season and 60th Grand Prix win over all classes with a heroic ride at the challenging MotorLand Arag\u00f3n circuit.
