{"id":237710,"date":"2017-08-27T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T20:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/crutchlow-british-gp-2018\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T02:59:46","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T00:59:46","slug":"crutchlow-british-gp-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/blog\/crutchlow-british-gp-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Crutchlow, LCR battle for podium in Silverstone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow claimed fourth position at his home race after an enthralling British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old thrilled local fans as he was involved in a battle for the podium places throughout, but narrowly missed out on a top-three spot, although he finished the race just a second and half behind eventual winner, Andrea Dovizioso.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cal Crutchlow at Silverstone<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Having qualified on the front row and gone third fastest during Sunday\u2019s warm up session, Crutchlow made a solid start and was part of a five-man group who pulled clear of the field. With Marc Marquez retiring seven laps from the end, Crutchlow became the lone Honda rider in contention, but ultimately was edged out by the factory Yamahas of Maverick Vi\u00f1ales and Valentino Rossi who took second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/cal-crutchlow-britishGP-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16784\" src=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/cal-crutchlow-britishGP-4.jpg\" alt=\"cal-crutchlow-britishGP\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Cal Crutchlow &#8211; 4th<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;<em>It\u2019s frustrating as I came here to win. You try to win every weekend, but this weekend was a special one, I felt good last year and I felt good again all weekend here, but I just didn\u2019t have enough in the end. The other guys were quicker than me today, the front tyre was too soft for me as always and this was the reason I was struggling with the rear tyre in the end as I was having to spin a lot to turn the bike.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBut I did the best job I could and today that was fourth. A home podium would have been good so yes, I\u2019m disappointed, but all credit to the three guys in front \u2013 Dovi (Andrea Dovizioso) rode fantastically. I didn\u2019t think all weekend he was the guy to beat, I thought it would be Marc (Marquez).
