April 2020 will see the inaugural Vietnamese F1 Grand Prix, with a circuit in the capital city of <strong>Hanoi<\/strong> promising to provide a major boost to the country\u2019s sporting economy.<\/p>\n<p>Sports sponsorship opportunities are likely to be rife, with stars such as <strong>Lewis Hamilton<\/strong> drawing in the crowds both in person and across TV and social media. It\u2019s already been noted that F1 itself could receive a huge financial boost by entering Vietnam &#8211; maybe to the extent of \u00a3500 million. Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup has signed on as the event\u2019s exclusive sponsor, in a multi-year deal that proves the future of <strong>sports sponsorship in Vietnam<\/strong>, especially when it comes to motorsport, is real.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/vietnam-motogp-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-20554\" src=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/vietnam-motogp-3.jpg\" alt=\"vietnam motogp\" width=\"600\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Sports sponsorship in Vietnam: what about MotoGP?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s bikes, rather than cars, that the Vietnamese are truly passionate about. Does this provide an opportunity for <strong>MotoGP,<\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/motogp-sponsorship\/\"><strong>sports sponsorship opportunities<\/strong><\/a> that surround it?<\/p>\n<p>Across Southeast Asia in general, <strong>an interest in MotoGP is growing<\/strong>. Valentino Rossi spoke last year about the passion of the sport\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/rtrsports.com\/en\/blog\/sport-sponsorship-philippines\/\">fans in Manila<\/a>, predictions were made that 100,000 spectators would turn up to the inaugural <strong>Thai MotoGP<\/strong> in the autumn, and the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang regularly sells out.<\/p>\n<p>According to CSM, the region\u2019s passion for the two-wheeled race might in part come from the fact that <strong>motorcycles are a huge part of daily life for millions of people<\/strong>. When it comes to culture, <strong>MotoGP<\/strong> and the desire to ride is hugely relatable in the region &#8211; and none more so than on the streets of Hanoi.<\/p>\n<p>2017 saw <strong>Yamaha recognize this passio<\/strong>n, adding the Vietnamese flag to bikes ridden by the likes of <strong>Maverick Vinales<\/strong> and <strong>Valentino Rossi<\/strong> as a mark of appreciation towards their fans there. The country has been part of the <strong>MotoGP<\/strong> promotional rounds for a while.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s the future for MotoGP in Vietnam? We\u2019re not sure yet &#8211; but since Rossi himself has expressed hope that we\u2019ll see Vietnamese riders turning professional, the future for both audiences and riders in the country looks promising. Added to that the fact that MotoGP has been hugely successful in Malaysia and Thailand, and MotoGP could have a real opportunity on its hands.
