Circuit description
The Circuit Of The Americas is the first purpose-built circuit in the United States near Austin, Texas, with a 5.513-kilometer track and a capacity of 120,000 fans. Construction of the massive 1,000-acre facility was completed in late 2012, and MotoGP first lined up at the circuit in 2013. One of its most distinctive features is the change in elevation of nearly 41 meters, with an impressive slope at the end of the start straight followed by a sharp left turn. The circuit is one of the most varied on the GP circuit, with a mix of fast straights and tight hairpins, with most sections mirroring at least part of a world-famous track. It was designed by renowned German architect and circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The direction of travel is counterclockwise and it has a total of 20 turns, including 9 right and 11 left.
