The 2026 NTT IndyCar Series calendar promises one of the most compelling seasons in recent history, blending tradition with expansion and off‑the‑chart excitement. From classic ovals like the Indianapolis 500 to historic downtown street circuits and a landmark new event in Washington, D.C., this schedule underscores IndyCar’s growth ambitions on both sporting and commercial fronts.
New Historic Addition: The Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington, D.C. has been added to the calendar as an 18th race, bringing the season an unprecedented civic dimension.
In a first for IndyCar and U.S. motorsport, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix will be staged on the streets of Washington, D.C., making fast cars a part of America’s capital cityscape. Scheduled for Aug 21‑23, 2026, the event is aligned with celebrations marking the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence.
This addition stems from an executive order signed by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, directing federal agencies to designate a suitable race route through the National Mall and near iconic monuments — potentially with speeds approaching 200 mph.
Unlike typical IndyCar races, the Freedom 250 blends national symbolism with high‑octane competition, ushering the series into a unique cultural moment and delivering massive exposure in the heart of the U.S. capital.
